PGL CS:GO MAJOR's winning teams and biggest moment
Natus Vincere is definitely one of the top teams to watch, after winning $1 million at the 2021 PGL Major without losing a map. G2 Esports gave a good performance, winning $300,000. Heroic and Gambit Esports teams each received $140,000.
Natus Vincere
In 2009, in Dubai, Murat Zhumashevich announced the development of a new esports organization. As the financier, Zhumashevich provided the money for the team’s operations and a place for team members to train. The responsibility for developing the team’s lineup fell on starix, a pro Counter-Strike player.
By December 2009, Natus Vincere (NAVI) had created a team of top-tier players. ZeroGravity served as the manager, and the team has enjoyed extensive success in international competitions.
G2 Esports
Founded in Spain in 2014, G2 Esports aka simply G2 is located in Berlin, Germany. Players compete in a number of popular esports games, such as CS:GO, Valorant, and League of Legends. Originally called Gamers2, the organization rebranded to the name G2 Esports in 2015. The team won a number of international tournaments, including Six Invitational 2019.
It’s a major comeback, after unfortunate showing at 2016’s Mid-Season Invitational followed by an equally embarrassing performance at the World Championships. For the past few years, G2 has worked diligently to repair the team’s once stellar reputation. Emphasizing teamwork and skill, G2 is now one of the premiere esports leagues and a favorite to do well at the upcoming PGL Major.
Gambit Esports
Gambit Esports is an esports club from Russia, formerly of Gambit Gaming. It’s now owned by MTS, a telecom company. Established in 2013, the organization acquired the roster of Moscow Five. By 2016, Gambit secured a CS:GO roster made up of gamers formerly from the HellRaisers. After acquiring a number of high-profile players, the team qualified for the 2016 MLG Columbus, beating both Cloud9 and Renegades in an offline qualifying event.
The team later placed 9-12th during the main tournament. In Nov. 2016, Gambit beat Team Kinguin in the finals of the Acer Predator Masters. Since the team has continued to dominate competitively in international tournaments.
Heroic
Purchased by the Nordic group, Omaken sports, Heroic has made an impressive entry into CS:GO competitions. Retaining the Heroic name, the brand is merging the PUBG roster with Heroic due to its long history.
Established in 2016, Heroic esports began with the RFRSH Entertainment, the brand that owned competition organizer BLAST and esports group, Astralis. Due to restrictions on how many groups one company may own, RFRSH chose to sell Heroic in 2018.
